The Family Is Dead

The Family Is Dead

By Antonio Mwanza
When you look at the insults, the violence, the bitterness, the hatred, the polarisation spewing on social media then you will realise that the Family is dead because the behaviour being exhibited on social media depicts the type of families, the type of homes we are coming from.

This anti-social and unbecoming behaviour and culture is testimony that the Zambian family, the Zambian home is in a state of social and spiritual debacheury, a state of moral decay.

We have fathers who are failing to be the role models to their children; fathers who instead of being the moral arbiters to their children are instead drowning in an abyss of drunkeness, sexual immorality, rubble rousing and verbal and psychological abuse. Such unfathomable behaviour is the example they give to their children, giving rise to an army of children with unbridled appetites for lust and substance abuse; a cadre of youths who think that insults, disrespect for elders, laziness, drunkenness and all sorts of sodomic stain is actually a show of strength and independence of mind.

We have mothers who have abdicated their revered role as the backbone and sweet chalice of wisdom in the home and instead have resorted to vainity, swimming in booze, vulgar language, nagging and the foolish disrespect of their own husbands in the misguided belief of gender equality, girl power and all sorts of misunderstood concepts.

Until we repair our family, until we have fathers who execute themselves as the correct role models to their children; until we have husbands who love and respect their wives; until we have mothers who know how to nurture a home; wives who demostrate wisdom in the manner they run their homes; until we have wives who know the virtue of submission we will continue to breed children and youths who think that violence, insults, bitterness, hatred and all sorts of sodomic traits are actually a normal way of life.

Very right, family is dead. I mean from that picture its evident that the man doesn’t eat as one with the family. Jacket zipped to the neck. The mosi is a take away from the bar. Besides who eats nshima with steers burger sauce? Complimented with a beer. Are these the right morals to teach the young ones? FAMILY IS DEAD.

You are sport on Antonio. Our family values have really gone to the dogs. This animal called social media or what name it is called, has made things worse. You have even reminded me of what I saw the night of crossing over from 2016-2017.Youths were having sex outside school premises like animals!I could not comprehend the happenings & it appears no one cares. The world has really turned upside down & you can’t agree more that these are end times
