Police: Thief Burnt To Death By Lusaka Mob

POLICE have opened a case of murder after a suspected criminal was burnt to death by an angry mob in John Laing early this morning.
Police Public Relations Officer Esther Mwaata Katongo has disclosed to Mwebantu that a man identified as Kelly Mupayi aged 31 years of John Laing; unknown house number was found dead with burns on the body.
“The circumstances surrounding the death are not yet known, we are investigating a case of murder. There are allegations that the deceased had attempted to steal but we still do not have any complainant to that effect. It is believed that the suspect was beaten before setting him ablaze as he was found with burns on part of his body. We suspect that the murder happened between 0400 hours and 05 00 hours today. We call upon all those with information that will help in tracing people behind the killing to report to the nearest police station. We are also reiterating our usual call for members of the public to desist from taking the Law into their hands. This country has got Laws and procedures on how people believed to be suspects in criminal matters should be handled.” Katongo said

Welcome, the South African way when Cops are seen to be accomplices in such Felons the Communities are left with nothing but to act in that way. But sad.
