No Examination Leakages This Year

No Examination Leakages This Year

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED ON 8th SEPTEMBER, 2016.

NO EXAMINATION LEAKAGES THIS YEAR

The third school term in Zambia always comes with various national examinations. These examinations are not just annual academic events but are very important activities in the lives of learners, parents and society as a whole. They are used as major assessment tools.

Being very important events on the education calendar, NAQEZ takes keen interest in how examinations are conducted. It is regrettable that currently Zambia has the highest number of examination leakages in the region. While we have previously sensitized learners and members of the public on the grave effects of this scouge, the vice has unfortunately been increasing, especially at grade 9 level. This must change this year.

We want to strongly encourage all learners writing examinations this year to just study hard and never to rely on leakages. And all our teachers ought to put in their best in preparing the pupils for exams.

We passionately call upon the Examinations Council of Zambia and the Ministry of General Education to put in place practical measures aimed at eradicating this retrogressive phenomenon. If examination leakages continue, academic certificates in the country will totally lose credibility; and this would be dangerous for mother Zambia.
